Meet the Creator
John Alan Martinson — Author, Game Designer, Voice Actor & Game Master

I’m John Alan Martinson, an independent author, professional voice actor, tabletop role-playing game designer, and lifelong enthusiast of fantasy, history, mythology, and storytelling. I’m the creator of 👑Kingsmark and ⭐Jack’s Cinematic d12 (JCd12), a role-playing system developed through years of research, writing, experimentation, and playtesting.
I’ve spent decades playing and running tabletop role-playing games, developing a particular appreciation for immersive storytelling, realistic consequences, tactical decision-making, and the extraordinary creative freedom that makes tabletop gaming different from other forms of entertainment. My professional experience also includes narrating more than 120 audiobooks, along with work in writing and acting.
Kingsmark represents my ambition to create a heroic fantasy game that combines the excitement of cinematic adventure with believable characters, dangerous combat, meaningful choices, and a richly developed world. Its design draws inspiration from history, mythology, psychology, martial arts, cinema, literature, and the many subjects I’ve spent my life exploring.
This project has also been a family endeavor. My wife and daughter have participated in playtesting Kingsmark, helping me develop the game through actual adventures rather than theory alone.
As an independent creator, I’m particularly interested in building relationships with Players, Game Masters, fellow designers, writers, artists, and others who share my enthusiasm for imaginative storytelling. I hope Kingsmark inspires people not only to experience memorable adventures, but also to develop their own creativity, curiosity, and appreciation for the world around them.

🎲 Let’s Make Something Memorable
Tabletop role-playing has always been about bringing people together through imagination. Some of the most memorable adventures begin with people who have never met, sharing a few ideas and discovering what they can create together.
Whether you’re interested in playing Kingsmark, discussing its design, introducing it to your audience, or exploring a potential collaboration, you’re welcome to get in touch. I look forward to meeting more of the people who make this hobby such an extraordinary creative community.
